Our people: Meet Charles Bonfante
Hi Charlie, how long have you been at Deloitte and what is your role?
I’ve been with Deloitte for three years. I joined as a Manager with our Consulting Technical Strategy & Architecture Service Line. Since joining, I had the opportunity to help start our ServiceNow practice, taking the lead in Service Management engagements and working closely with Deloitte Private establishing strong connection and delivering quality results for a wide range of clients and organisations.
Why do you like working in the Deloitte Private space?
The variety of the work! On any given day, I work with a range of people and support different clients across different industries. My broad technical skills and my ability to empathise with what is an ever-changing landscape really helps engage with businesses and drives real value to our clients. It’s energising when you connect with individuals and provide industry insight that connects with what they really need.
What do you enjoy most about working in technology?
For me, technology is about innovation. Finding ways people can work better. Challenging the norm and using technology to give you an edge. The changing landscape of technology is a challenge to everyone. I enjoy supporting clients to navigate this path and find solutions for them that can drive success throughout their business.
How have you got to where you are today in your career?
I’m fan of listening, learning and being bold. Always find time to listen and empathise with your clients and colleagues. Open your mind to innovation and new ideas while simultaneously being bold, challenge, take chances, be sincere and honest. Be human. Consulting is about creating strong relationships with both your colleagues and clients. Keep this front of mind in everything you do and behave with integrity. This has always proven to be the best path for me.
What is the most common piece of advice you give to clients?
I have a few suggestions! Be clear on the outcomes you want to achieve. Keep it simple but achievable. Steer away from complexity when it comes to technology solutions. Look for pragmatic and tangible solutions for which you are able to measure success. Don’t be afraid for asking questions to anyone.
What’s the most common piece of advice you give to clients on a regular basis?
Let us handle that for you.
What do you do in your spare time and who do you spend it with?
I'm a keen cook and have a passion for great food! I love exploring different cuisines from different countries and I'm often entertaining friends and family over dinner with new creations (that occasionally are not very successful).
I also love spending time with my wonderful wife and our two children. Typically, on weekends we go tramping to explore this incredible country we live in.
