Our people: Meet Benoit Lancelot
How long have you been at Deloitte and what is your role?
I’ve been at Deloitte for 11 years and I’m a Director in the Assurance and Advisory practice.
I started my career in Audit at Deloitte in Paris and moved to New Zealand after four years there. I spent six years in the Auckland Audit team and then took on a new challenge, developing the Advisory side of our business, in December 2016.
Why do you like working in the Deloitte Private space – what do you do as part of the annual Fast 50 process?
I love the Festival of Growth. It is an empowering event with so many amazing people striving for success - it's the best business event I have ever been to. I’ve been part of the Fast 50 team for the past three years. Part of my role is to validate the results of the Top 50 winners.
I find the Deloitte Private space exciting because it's a fast growing environment, full of people passionate about their jobs. The variety of clients and engagements is huge. One day I’ll assist with the implementation of a technical standard, the next, I'll be involved in accounting for a new acquisition - no two days are the same!
How have you got to where you are today in your career?
I couldn’t have made it to this stage in my career without the Assurance and Advisory team. The people I work with are fantastic - I feel so privileged working with a bunch of very talented people, often younger, smarter and faster than myself. It keeps me on my toes!
I think I'm a good listener and I love to hear where my clients have issues and what solutions we can implement to help them do better.
I always aim to improve their process to make their life easier. Sometimes it involves finding the right people at Deloitte with the appropriate technology and skills.
What is the most common piece of advice you give to clients?
If it is really hard or very manual, there must be a better way. We can help!
Alice Potter works in the Deloitte clients and marketing team and closely with Deloitte Private.
